East Elmhurst Church To Be Replaced By Residential Buildings

The developer bought the church for $2.3 million in December 2015.

EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS — A local developer is looking to demolish an East Elmhurst church to make way for five residential buildings.

The plan to demolish the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran church, located on 69-05 Ditmars Blvd., was filed last week by the developer. The church will be replaced by five two- to three-family houses, with 14 units in total.

According to the plans, each building will have three floors with two to three units per building and one or two parking spots in each building's cellar.
