QUEENS, NY — An elderly woman was fatally struck by a Cadillac Escalade while she tried to walk across the Cross Island Parkway during the wee hours Monday, police said.

Lucilli Osjo-Igbinoba, 82, suffered severe body trauma and was pronounced dead on the road near Linden Boulevard shortly after the 5:10 a.m. pedestrian crash, authorities said.

Police said it appears Osjo-Igbinoba had been walking north along the parkway's center divider before she tried to cross the busy road's north lanes.

Her attempt to walk across the road brought her into the path of a 42-year-old man driving a 2015 Escalade in the parkway's middle lane, authorities said. The driver struck Osjo-Igbinoba and stayed afterward as police arrived, NYPD officials said.

Police don't suspect any criminal wrongdoing and their investigation is ongoing, as of Tuesday.
