Elmhurst Teen Dies After Car Flips On Queens Highway: NYPD
Katherine Lin, from Elmhurst, died after riding in a car that crashed against a guardrail in Queens early Thursday morning, police said.

QUEENS – An 18-year-old died after the car she was riding in flipped on the Long Island Expressway just after midnight Thursday, police said.
Katherine Lin, from Elmhurst, was in the backseat of a BMW that crashed into a guardrail on the westbound Long Island Expressway near the Van Wyck Expressway about 12 a.m., the NYPD said.
A 20-year-old man driving the 2018 BMW 43I at “an apparent high speed,” had lost control of the car when it crashed, authorities said.

Lin, the driver and another 18-year-old passenger (both whom whom were listed in critical but stable condition) were taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where Lin later died, police said.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, according to authorities.

Lin and the other passenger were both in the backseat, police said. The NYPD said they didn't know if it was a car service car.
