Man Accused Of Murdering 15-Year-Old Boy On Queens Train: DA

Keyondre Russell was charged with murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, prosecutors said.

FAR ROCKAWAY, QUEENS – An 18-year-old was arrested on murder charges Sunday two days after a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot on a Far Rockaway train, the Queens District Attorney said.

Keyondre Russell could face up to life in prison if convicted of shooting Jayjohn Burnett inside an A train subway car Friday, according to the Queens District Attorney, Melinda Katz.

Russell and Burnett were riding a southbound A train when the the 15-year-old was shot, according to Jason K. Wilcox, NYPD Transit Chief.

A stranger pulled Burnett, who had a gunshot wound in his chest, off the train at the Mott Avenue station, officials said.

Two officers summoned medics who rushed Burnett to Cohen Children's Medical Center, where he died at 4:40 p.m, according to Wilcox.

Russell, who also faces criminal possession of a weapon charges, is set to return to court on Oct 19, according to prosecutors.
