Far Rockaway Man Convicted Of Murder After Street Fight, Shooting: DA
Joaquin Bullock, 35, was convicted of murder and criminal possession of a weapon after fatally shooting Dion Smith, prosecutors said.

QUEENS – A man from Far Rockaway was convicted of murder four years after fatally shooting a man following a fight, the Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Thursday.
Joaquin Bullock, 35, was convicted of murder, kidnapping, and criminal possession of a weapon after fatally shooting Dion Smith, 28, at an alley at Brookhaven Avenue on Aug. 18, 2018, prosecutors said.
Bullock faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole, Katz said.

In August, surveillance video caught several men, including Bullock and Smith, arguing on Beach 25 Street and Brookhaven Avenue, and later recorded Bullock punching Smith in the face before leaving, the Queens District Attorney’s office said.
Bullock returned to the scene 30 minutes later, forcibly grabbed Smith and took him to the alley where he shot him in the chest, prosecutors said.

Smith was transported to St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Katz said.
