Flushing Man Arrested For Robbery, Sexual Abuse In Subway Car: Police

QUEENS – A man from Flushing was arrested Tuesday after sexually abusing and robbing a woman on board an M train approaching a Sunnyside station, police reported

Abel Pita-Aviles, 36, was arrested after robbing a 24-year-old woman’s cellphone and cash and forcibly touching her on the morning of Nov. 11, authorities said.

On Friday, Pita-Aviles threatened the woman with a knife and demanded her belongings as the northbound M train approached the 36th Street station in Sunnyside, the NYPD said.

The 24-year-old gave the man her cellphone and $50 in cash and then he grabbed her breasts over her clothing before he fled when the train arrived at the station, police said.

There were no injuries, the authorities said.
