Former Rikers Officer Charged For Bribery, Drug Contraband: Feds

Karin Robinson, 29, was arrested for accepting bribes and smuggling contraband from an inmate at Rikers Island, prosecutors said.

QUEENS — A former officer at Rikers Island was arrested for smuggling drugs to an incarcerated person at the facility, Breon Peace, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said Friday.

Karin Robinson, 29, was arrested for accepting bribes and smuggling contraband from an inmate at the George R. Vierno Center at Rikers Island in 2019, prosecutors said.

Robinson faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, Peace said.

Between February and June 2019, she received thousands of dollars in bribes from an inmate in exchange for marihuana and other contraband that would be sold and distributed at Rikers, prosecutors said.

Robinson received over $6,000 via Cash App payments, according to the charges.
