Democrat To Run Against George Santos For 2024 Bayside, LI Seat
Zak Malamed announced his candidacy for New York's 3rd Congressional District, which represents parts of Queens and Long Island.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Great Neck native will run against Rep. George Santos to represent parts of Queens and Long Island in the 2024 elections.
Democrat Zak Malamed, 29, announced his candidacy on Monday, challenging the embattled Republican who was arrested last week for wire fraud, money laundering, and lying to Congress.
“New Yorkers are hungry for fresh leadership, and this district will be crucial for taking back the majority in Washington," said Malamed.

His candidacy comes days after Santos was charged with 13 counts including financial fraud, money laundering, and false statements. On Wednesday, Santos pleaded not guilty and was later released from custody on a $500,000 bond.
In March, Santos formally filed paperwork for a reelection bid for the 3rd Congressional District.
