Help Rebuild Jamaica Senior Centers This Weekend

Volunteers will be joined by NBA player Felipe Lopez and Councilman Ruben Wills.

JAMAICA, QUEENS — Looking for something worthwhile to do this weekend? Try rebuilding damaged senior centers in Queens.

Rebuilding Together NYC is seeking volunteers to renovate five Jamaica homes and two senior centers Saturday. As part of the project, the buildings will receive flooring and drywall upgrades and electrical repairs. Volunteers will also place 15 street lights around the neighborhood to improve public safety.

The event will start at 9 a.m. at Allen Senior Center on 116-01 Linden Boulevard.

The renovations are part of National Rebuilding Day, which brings volunteers together nationwide to provide free home repairs for lower-income families.
