Here's Where To Get Free Halal Or Kosher Meals In Queens
The city is expanding its free meals program to offer more options for New Yorkers who observe kosher and halal dietary rules.

QUEENS, NY — The city is expanding its free meals program launched amid the coronavirus crisis to include more options for New Yorkers who observe kosher and halal dietary rules.
Coinciding with the start of Ramadan on Thursday, the Department of Education is increasing the supply and distribution of halal meals in neighborhoods with large Muslim populations.
While all 400-plus meal hubs have halal meals available, according to the Department of Education, 32 specific sites across the city will offer a larger supply during Ramadan, which is the Muslim holy month.

The agency also started offering exclusively kosher-certified meals this week at select meal hubs in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

All New Yorkers — adults and children — are eligible for the free meals, which are available for pickup between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on weekdays. Each person may take up to three meals a day. No registration or ID is required.
