Human Torso, Legs Found At Queens Beach, NYPD Says

The severed body, found laying on the sand at the beach Friday afternoon, may belong to an Emmy-winning filmmaker, per multiple reports.

QUEENS, NY - A severed human torso “with attached legs” was discovered laying on the sand at Breezy Point Beach in Queens Friday, authorities said.

The body was discovered about 12:21 p.m. at the beach, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed to Patch.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. A cause of death has not yet been released.

Authorities believe the headless, armless body may belong to Emmy-winning filmmaker Ross McDonnell, who was last seen over two weeks ago, ABC7 reported.

McDonnell, a native of Ireland, might’ve drowned while swimming, the outlet said, adding that his body might’ve become dismembered in the ocean.

Police are awaiting the results of a DNA test to verify the body does belong to the filmmaker, the New York Daily News reported.
