Local Entrepreneur Will Nourish Attendees At U.S. Open In Queens

Dawn Kelly, the owner of The Nourish Spot in Jamaica near York College, is very excited about the opportunity.

QUEENS, NY — A local woman considered to be the first juice bar owner in Jamaica, will be offering some shots of her cold presses in the U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on Monday starting at 11 a.m.

Dawn Kelly’s The Nourish Spot, located at 107-05 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. in Jamaica near York College, was started in 2017 to both help herself, her family and her neighborhood get healthier.

Since starting the business, many more health food shops have popped up in Jamaica.

Kelly will be at the U.S. Open with her daughter Jade Duncan, who works on the menu items.

“It’s all divine,” Kelly said in a statement. “I’m grateful to be here, not only representing my brand, but my family as well. I have ubiquitous brand dreams for our business. And this opportunity to share our fresh and healthy fare with athletes and people from all over the USA and the world is transformative!”

Duncan agrees.

“This is a full circle surreal moment for me,” Duncan said in a prepared statement about the U.S. Open. “My mother would bring us here as children to participate in Kids Day & Fan Week.

“I can recall working at this event when I was starting my culinary career. So to find myself now choosing to nourish the US Open supporters as a vendor, with my own brand is itself a dream come true. A truly wonderful feeling. I’m overwhelmed with excitement and joy.”

The plant based juice bar offers fresh fruit, vegetables, proteins, nuts and seeds that can be customized into smoothies, wraps, salads, cold pressed juices and fruit and yogurt parfait cups and bowls, according to Kelly.

The U.S. Open menu will feature three smoothies including fan favorite Berry Crazy, two lemon/limeades and three salad offerings with Nourish Herb or balsamic vinaigrette made fresh daily.

“I can’t wait to share our creations with all,” Duncan said.

The U.S. Open will be held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Kelly will be serving her goods at Backyard 17.
