Hi Patch Readers,

My name is Naeisha Rose and I am the new general assignment editor covering the Big Apple and Long Island for Patch.

I was born in Jamaica, West Indies, and I am a lifelong Queens resident.

I graduated from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism (big up to the Class of 2015) with a master’s degree in Arts and Culture Reporting and Broadcast, and also studied photography and documentary.

After graduating, I worked on short documentaries such as “microfemininewarfare: exploring space in electronic music,” “No Responders Left Behind” and “Tria and Dan” while freelancing at LatinTrends Magazine.

I would later go on to freelance for RT Book Reviews, Publishers Weekly and TimesLedger Newspaper as a photojournalist, where I was later hired as part-time reporter (thanks to my very descriptive captions) and then a full-time reporter for Southeast Queens covering crime, immigration, business, politics and arts and culture.

After TimesLedger was bought in 2018 by QNS.com, I worked at WhereItzAt (Caribbean business and culture), the Haitian Times, the Queens Daily Eagle (law and politics), Queens County Politics, LaborPress and The Hub (Black news and culture).

In 2020, I was the director of communications for James Johnson, a community organizer from Southeast Queens, who placed second in a stacked primary race against 11 others for City Council District 27.

Most recently, I was the associate editor at Queens Chronicle. There, I won four New York Press Association awards for my coverage on the environment, education, religion and a 9/11 feature.

For nearly a decade I have been covering local to international news for various outlets on everything from illegal dumping in Southeast Queens to beauty pageant contestants from New York to Haitian immigrants stuck at the Mexico-United States border.

Whether it’s a story on an up-and-coming local artist, public safety or a breakdown of new policy coming from the mayor’s office, I’m looking forward to providing Patch readers with the latest news.
