Making Waves with Row New York

With Row New York, QCP's adults learn all the basics of rowing, allowing them to experience the thrill of this sport.

For the third consecutive year, Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) has proudly partnered with Row New York to offer an inspiring adaptive rowing program. Running from June 26 to August 29 at the World’s Fair Boathouse, this initiative brings together participants each week to strengthen their upper bodies and master the art of rowing.

Beyond physical exercise, this program offers participants a unique opportunity to experience the joys of rowing, fostering respect, teamwork, and resilience. Row New York is dedicated to making rowing accessible to all, providing one of the few adaptive rowing programs on the East Coast. Their boathouse and specialized equipment are designed to support adaptive athletes, allowing them to experience the thrill of this Olympic sport.

Participants gather weekly to engage in rigorous training sessions that not only build physical strength but also enhance mental fortitude. The program’s emphasis on teamwork and mutual support helps participants develop a deep sense of camaraderie and community. Rowing, often regarded as the ultimate team sport, requires perfect harmony among rowers, making it an excellent platform for building interpersonal skills.
