Man Fatally Struck by F Train In Jackson Heights: NYPD

QUEENS – A man was struck by a train in a Jackson Heights station on Monday after another man allegedly pushed him into the tracks, according to the police.

Heriberto Quintana, 48, was fighting with a 50-year-old man on the northbound F train platform of the Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue station before Quintana fell onto the train tracks, the NYPD said. Shortly after, the train entered the station and struck Quinta, law enforcement said.

Quintana, from Jamaica, Queens, was removed from the train bed and suffered severe trauma to the body. He was later transferred to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the police said.

The NYPD said that the 50-year-old man was taken into custody and authorities will continue to investigate the incident.

Update: Queens District Attorney, Melinda Katz, said on Wednesday that Carlos Garcia, 50, was arrested on charges of manslaughter after allegedly pushing Quintana into the train tracks. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.
