QUEENS — A Queens man was sentenced to prison after slashing his girlfriend who was tending to their ailing daughter in September at Jamaica Hospital, the Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Monday.

Alexander Fitzpatrick, 28, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after he gashed his 25-year-old girlfriend with a sharp object on Sept. 14, 2022, in a hospital room in Jamaica, prosecutors said.

The 25-year-old woman fell asleep next to her ill six–month–old daughter’s bedside and, when she woke up about 1 a.m., Fitzpatrick was standing over her with a sharp object, Katz said.
