Man Who Broke Into 31 Ridgewood Homes Still At Large: Police

The man stole a sum of at least $37,000 in valuables and cash, police reports showed.

RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS — NYPD is searching for a man who broke into 31 Ridgewood homes since December, according to police.

The man stole at least $37,000 in cash and valuables such as necklaces, bracelets, rings, laptops and bags from the residences, police reports showed.

The first incidents occurred on Dec. 30, when the man broke into a residence near Grove Street and Fairview Avenue. He stole $10,000 in jewelry and $5,000 in cash, according to police reports.

Three apartment buildings (located on Madison Street and 64th Street, Woodbine Street and St. Nicholas Avenue and Himrod Street and Cypress Avenue) were broken into twice.

Most of the incidents occurred in the daytime or early evening when residents were away from the apartment. Some homeowners walked in on the burglar and the man fled without taking anything, according to police records.

NYPD provided surveillance footage of the burglar taken during a break-in on March 8. The man broke into a residence at Cypress Avenue and Harman Street through the fire escape and stole $1,000 in cash and a Samsung S6 phone.

NYPD urges anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the man in question to call Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477 or go to their website or text tips to 274637 and then enter TIP577.
