Mayor de Blasio Heads To Queens For 'City Hall In Your Borough' Initiative
The initiative seeks to strengthen ties between the NYPD and local communities.

QUEENS, NY — Mayor Bill De Blasio ventured out to Queens as part of the mayors’s City Hall in Your Borough initiative to deepen the relationship between the New York Police Department and local communities.
According to a press release from the NYPD, De Blasio and Police Commission James O’Neill held a press conference July 17 at the parking lot adjacent to the 105th Precinct’s satellite office in Rosedale, located at 242-40 North Conduit Ave. There, de Blasio announced the new 116th NYPD precinct in Queens Village, which the mayor said will help reduce current response times in southeast Queens and expand coverage throughout the community.

“Every New York City neighborhood deserves the same quality of service and safety we’ve come to expect from the NYPD,” de Blasio said in the release. “That is why we are making unprecedented investments in establishing high-quality precincts.”
The mayor also confirmed via Twitter that he is working with City Council to supply additional vests and bullet-resistant door panels and windows in all police command vehicles.
