NYC Subway Stabbing That Killed 1 Deemed Self-Defense, Queens DA Says

The Queens District Attorney's Office has declined to prosecute the man over the Sunday stabbing aboard a Manhattan-bound No. 7 train.

QUEENS, NY — A 69-year-old man who fatally stabbed one man and injured another on a subway train in Queens over the weekend acted in self-defense and will be not charged.

The Queens District Attorney's Office has declined to prosecute the man after he is believed to have been acting in self-defense, according to an ABC7 New York report.

The incident happened on Sunday around 12:30 a.m. aboard a Manhattan-bound No. 7 train in Woodside, police said.

The man was sleeping on the train when a group of men allegedly took his bags. When he woke up and tried to get his bags back, a struggle ensued.

The man pulled out a knife and stabbed a 32-year-old and another man, police said.

The 32-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital, police said.

The second man was slashed in the face and was transported to the same hospital.
