NYPD Identify Woman Killed After Crash Sends Cab Onto NYC Sidewalk

QUEENS, NY — A 51-year-old woman struck and killed by a taxi cab that jumped a curb after a crash over the weekend has been identified.

Vidya Dookran-Franco was walking on the sidewalk with two other individuals near 115th Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone Park on Saturday when she was hit by the taxi, police said.

A taxi driver in a Toyota RAV4 had collided with a Honda Accord and the crash sent the taxi onto the sidewalk, hitting Dookran-Franco, police said.

Dookran-Franco and two men — 44 and 49-years-old — were transported to Jamaica Hospital.

The 51-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.
