NYPD-Involved Fatal Shooting In Queens Sparks Investigation: AG
The Attorney General's office is investigating the death of Quayshawn Samuel, who died on Dec. 29, prosecutors said.

QUEENS — An investigation looking into a police-involved shooting in Far Rockaway last month was opened by the Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation, prosecutors said.
The Attorney General's office is investigating the death of Quayshawn Samuel, who died on Dec. 29 after a police officer fatally shot him on Beach Channel Drive.
That day, police arrived at the building about 8 p.m. on Thursday to investigate a group of men in a building lobby, authorities said.

Three men fled the building, and two officers chased Samuel on foot, police said.
One of the officers shot Samuel, later found to have been carrying a 40 caliber semi-automatic firearm, the NYPD said.

Samuel was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.
“Under the law, the officer may be on-duty or off-duty, and the decedent may be armed or unarmed,” reads a statement by the attorney general’s office. “Also, the decedent may or may not be in custody or incarcerated.”
