NYPD Officer Arrested for Drunk Driving After Getting Stuck on LIRR Tracks

An officer was arrested late Sunday night after his car got stuck on the train tracks near Borden Avenue.

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY — An NYPD officer was busted for drunk driving on Sunday night after his car stalled on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) tracks on Borden Avenue.

According to police, Hitesh Arora, 39, was off-duty and driving his own personal car when he got stuck on the third rail of the railroad tracks crossing Borden Avenue near the Pulaski Bridge at 10:04 p.m. NYPD and FDNY personnel arrived on the scene after someone called to report the stuck car and pulled Arora out of the vehicle, police said. Law enforcement smelled alcohol on his breath, but police say Arora refused a Breathalyzer test.

Arora was charged with driving while under the influence, his first offense, obstructing a highway railroad crossing and refusing a breath test, police said.
