NYPD Rescue Man Who Climbed Roosevelt Island Tram Tower

Potential charges were pending as of Tuesday afternoon.

QUEENS, NY — The NYPD rescued a man who scaled a Roosevelt Island tramway tower on Monday.

The incident happened around 7 p.m.

Video obtained by the New York Post shows the man walking back and forth along the gangway of the tramway’s 250-feet-tall support tower on the Manhattan side.

The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit reached the 20-year-old and brought him to safety. There were no injuries reported from the incident.

The man was transported to Weill-Cornell Medical Center, the FDNY said.
