NYPD Rescue Man Who Climbed Roosevelt Island Tram Tower

QUEENS, NY — The NYPD rescued a man who scaled a Roosevelt Island tramway tower on Monday.

The incident happened around 7 p.m.

Video obtained by the New York Post shows the man walking back and forth along the gangway of the tramway’s 250-feet-tall support tower on the Manhattan side.

The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit reached the 20-year-old and brought him to safety. There were no injuries reported from the incident.

The man was transported to Weill-Cornell Medical Center, the FDNY said.

The suspect's reason behind the stunt is not known at this time.

The man has not been identified by police, and charges were pending as of Tuesday afternoon.
