NYC Man Admits To Attacking Girl, Biting Off NYPD Officer’s Fingertip (patch.com) — Queens residents are learning more about a shocking Glendale assault in which a 9-year-old girl was slapped to the ground and an off-duty NYPD sergeant had part of his finger bitten off while intervening. The Queens District Attorney says the 31-year-old defendant has now pleaded guilty and faces up to 17 years in prison, with sentencing set for early February.
   

2. 2 Teens Arrested In Deadly Stabbing Of 17-Year-old Boy In NYC (patch.com) — Neighbors in Woodhaven are grappling with the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Josue Argudo at Jamaica Avenue and 76th Street, where he was found with a neck wound and later died at Jamaica Hospital. Police have arrested two teens on murder and weapons charges, while Rep. Nydia Velázquez and local residents call for an end to violence as the investigation continues.

NYC apartment residents report greater comfort after switching to heat pumps (techxplore.com) — Residents at a Queens NYCHA complex are reporting better year-round comfort after switching from oil heat to electric heat pumps, thanks to a Cornell-led study. Trump Justice Dept. urged to probe antisemitic incidents in Queens (nypost.com) — Queens activists are pressing the U.S. Justice Department to investigate a series of alleged antisemitic incidents in Jackson Heights, including the vandalism of a public menorah in Travers Park during Hanukkah. Their civil rights complaint cites swastikas, hateful graffiti, and bus vandalism since 2023, and argues that federal intervention is needed after repeated NYPD reports have not led to arrests.
