NYC Man Admits To Attacking Girl, Biting Off NYPD Officer’s Fingertip

The suspect faces 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges.

QUEENS, NY — A 31-year-old man has pleaded guilty to charges after he admitted to slapping a 9-year-old girl in the face and biting off the fingertip of an off-duty NYPD sergeant who intervened to arrest him.

Feliz Enrique pleaded guilty to assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the May 10, 2025, incident, the Queens District Attorney's Office said on Monday.

Enrique slapped the 9-year-old girl in the face after he asked for her name near 67th Place and Central Avenue in Glendale, prosecutors said.

Off-duty Sergeant Sebastian Hajder, who was nearby, and two good Samaritans tried to apprehend Enrique.

Enrique then bit off Hajder's right index finger and also bit his knee and hand.

The 9-year-old girl was treated at a local hospital and suffered bruising to her arm and back, bleeding to her lip and arm, and loose teeth.

"This defendant approached a 9-year-old girl, asked her name, and then viciously slapped her to the ground in an unprovoked attack. Brave bystanders — including an off-duty police sergeant — saw the incident and attempted to detain Feliz Enrique. During the tussle, the defendant bit the sergeant on multiple parts of his body and severed a portion of his right index finger. This was a truly senseless act of violence, and this defendant deserves every day of the sentence he will receive," Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement.

Enrique faces 17 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 2.
