Pedestrian Fatally Struck By MTA Bus In Queens: Police

QUEENS, NY — A woman was fatally struck by an MTA bus in Astoria on Thursday, police confirmed.

The victim — who is believed to be between 50–60 years of age — was struck by the bus as she cross the intersection at Ditmars Boulevard and 31st Street around 8:06 a.m., police said.

The woman was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was pronounced dead.

A 48-year-old male bus driver had been traveling eastbound along Ditmars Boulevard when he struck the pedestrian.

The bus driver remained at the scene following the incident.

Police have not released the victim's identity or age pending family notification.
