NEW YORK CITY — A pedestrian is fighting for her life after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Queens Wednesday morning, marking the third such incident in just two weeks in New York City.
A 60-year-old woman was crossing the street near 90th Avenue and 188th Street about 6:40 a.m. when a vehicle rammed into her, according to the NYPD.
She was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, but the driver fled, police said.

Wednesday's crash is the third hit-and-run to leave a pedestrian critically injured in just two weeks in New York City.
On Nov. 3, 79-year-old Yvonne Sandiford was fatally struck by back-to-back hit-and-run drivers in Bed-Stuy — a crash that shook the Brooklyn community for weeks.

And on Monday, 46-year-old Mohammed Hossain was again struck by two hit-and-run drivers and pronounced dead on the scene in Borough Park.
It's a trend advocates are saying begs attention from authorities.
"New York City must also do more to hold hit-and-run drivers accountable. It’s unacceptable that two drivers hit a fellow New Yorker and kept driving," said Transportation Alternatives Executive Director Danny Harris after Sandiford's death.
