Police Look for Man Who Threatened to Blow Up Forest Hills Subway Station
A man with a cane said he had a bomb and was going to blow up the 71st Street station, according to police.
FOREST HILLS, NY — A 50-something man with a cane claimed he had a bomb and threatened to blow up the Forest Hills-71st Street subway station last week, according to police.
The man used a pay phone on Oct. 13 at the E, F, M, R subway stop to call 911 and say there was a bomb in the station. The man then used the emergency call button on a station elevator and said "the bomb will go off in six minutes and 57 seconds," according to police.
The man was described by police as 50 to 60 years old, about 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds and was seen on surveillance video wearing a gray hooded jacket, gray track pants, glasses, a black hat, tan backpack and black sneakers.
