Queens Beer Garden Nowadays To Open Indoor Space For Year-Round Party

The indoor space is slated to open this summer.

RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS — A beer garden opened for the summer this week in Queens, with a new indoor space planned that will let the party continue year round.

Nowadays, on Cooper Avenue in Ridgewood, opened for the season Thursday. Owners of the spot, which hosts the dance parties Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday, started a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year to fund the new indoor space. It raised more than $100,000 within a month, they said.

The indoor space will open this summer and include a custom-made, high-fidelity sound system created by SBS Designs, the owners said. The speakers will blast tunes on Friday and Saturday evenings between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. and Mister Sunday will take place every week from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Starting in July, Le Poisson Rouge, a Greenwich Village live music venue, will host concerts each Thursday.

Aside from the parties, the beer garden will also appeal to foodies. Nowadays' "director of hospitality" Henry Rich will curate the food and beverage selections from local vendors and, each Saturday, Arrogant Swine will hold Carolina-style pig roasts.
