Queens Beer Week Kicks Off May 6

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Raise your glass to help local non-profits at this year's beer week!

For the fourth time, Queens Beer Week will kick off at the Long Island City Landing with a party May 6. Nine breweries are getting together to provide New Yorkers with a taste of Queens brews and to help support local non-profits organizations.

The opening event for the nine-day celebration will be held between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 6 at LIC Landing. Ticket holders will get to taste unlimited samples from the nine participating breweries: Big Alice Brewing Co., Bridge & Tunnel Brewery, Descendant Cider Co., Finback Brewery, ICONYC Brewery, LIC Beer Project, Rockaway Brewing Co., SingleCut Beersmiths and Transmitter Brewing Co. There will be live music and food provided by COFFEED.

The benefits from the opening event tickets will go towards supporting the two local non-profits: Friends of Firefighters, which helps families of firefighters with physical and mental health issues, and Hunters Point Park Conservancy, which works to preserve the parks, waterfront and green spaces around Hunter Point.

Beer week events will be held in various venues around Queens until May 14 and do not require tickets to attend.

• Queens Beer Cocktails Night at Sparrow Tavern: May 10 at 10:00 PM - May 12 at 12:00 AM
• Queens Cans at Rockaway Brewing Co.: May 12 at 2:00 PM - May 12 at 6:00 PM
• 2nd Annual Homebrew Wort Share at Bridge And Tunnel Brewery: May 14 at 1:00 PM - May 14 at 4:00 PM
