Queens First-Grader Diagnosed With Leukemia: GoFundMe Campaign Created
Donations have already topped $23,000.

WHITESTONE, QUEENS — A GoFundMe campaign was initiated for Chloe Mitchell, a 6-year-old first-grader from Whitestone, who was diagnosed with leukemia last Thursday.
“Chloe was a normal 1st grader, running around with her friends, playing basketball, going to school. Thursday March 2nd changed all of that,” reads Chloe’s GoFundMe page.
Chloe came down with a fever shortly after returning from spring break. She tested negative for the flu and was sent home by the doctor but returned when she wasn’t feeling any better. Later that afternoon, she was diagnosed with leukemia and was rushed to the emergency room.

Tracie McCue Sadloski initiated the GoFundMe campaign on behalf of Erin Mitchell, Chloe’s mother. “Erin, is a single parent and has been by Chloe's side since the devastating news,” wrote Sadloski.
Doctors are optimistic that they will eventually cure Chloe of the cancer, but Chloe needs all the help she can get to pay for her treatment.

The success of the GoFundMe campaign that started on March 4 has been a testament to the Whitestone community’s altruism. Donations reached more than $23,000 out of the $30,000 goal as of Friday.
“I am equally overwhelmed at the generosity, time, patience and love that we are feeling from our friends, family, neighbors and community. We are so lucky to have such wonderful people in our corner,” said Erin Mitchell, in an update to the GoFundMe campaign.
Chloe was admitted to NYU Langone and will start chemotherapy on Monday.
