Queens Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Elmhurst Stabbing, Police Say

Police arrested a man who they stabbed another person repeatedly in Elmhurst on Thursday.

ELMHURST, NY — A Queens man was arrested and charged with attempted murder on Saturday, days after brutally stabbing a man in Elmhurst, police said.

Steven Ponce was charged with attempted murder, assault, and weapons charges, police said. Authorities believe that on Thursday at about 10 p.m., Ponce attacked another man with a knife. Ponce stabbed the man "multiple times in the back ,torso, neck and arms," police said in a statement. The man was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Ponce, 30, was arrested days later after the NYPD put out his photograph and asked for the public's help in finding him. Patch was not immediately able to contact Ponce's attorney for comment.
