QUEENS – A Queens man was indicted on murder charges after a hit-and-run that killed a mother on Mother’s Day, the Queens District Attorney's office said Thursday.

A grand jury indicted Roosevelt Rose, 56, months after a crash that killed Florence Ngwu, a 49-year-old mother, outside of her home in Jamaica on May 8, said the Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

Rose could spend up to 25 years in prison if convicted, according to prosecutors.

The 56-year-old was driving a truck and, while attempting to make a turn at a dead-end road in Jamaica, crashed into multiple parked vehicles, the District Attorney’s office contends.

Surveillance videos show Ngwu exited her house with her daughter after hearing the ruckus and approached Rose, said prosecutors. The videos later show that the truck slammed into a parked SUV, making it jump forward, the district attorney said.

Ngwu fell behind the rear bumper of another parked vehicle, while the front side of the SUV collided with the victim, and she was pinned between two cars, according to the report.

Rose drove away from the scene, according to prosecutors.

Ngwu suffered fatal head injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she died.
