Queens Man Sentenced Over 5 Years In Prison After Ghost Guns Bust: DA

QUEENS — A 21-year-old Queens was sentenced to prison after he was found to be in possession of 25 ghost guns, including semi-automatic pistols and assault weapons, in 2021, prosecutors said.

Chaz McMillan, from Fresh Meadows, was sentenced to five and a half years in prison after facing criminal weapons possession and other charges having to do with the stockpile of weapons found in his home on Dec. 8, 2021, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.

Police used a search warrant at McMillan’s residence after conducting surveillance on the 21-year-old, Katz said. Officials said that McMillan had allegedly been purchasing gun parts online.

Once at his residence on 162nd Street, police found 20 ghost guns, including 19 semi-automatic pistols and 1 semi-automatic shotgun, the district attorney said.

Officers also found 31 magazines that could hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, as well as parts to assemble firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, prosecutors said.

The Crime Strategies and Intelligence Unit, created in 2021 as a part of a crackdown on "ghost guns," has seized a total of 242 firearms, 141 ghost guns, 5 3D-printers, over 110,000 rounds of ammunition, and more, Katz said.
