Queens Man Sentenced To Prison For Exploiting Teen On Instagram: Feds

Kevin Rizo, 33, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after he pretended to be a girl on social media to obtain nude photos, prosecutors said.

QUEENS — A man from Flushing was sentenced to prison after sexually exploiting a 14-year-old boy on Instagram, Breon Peace, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said Tuesday.

Kevin Rizo, 33, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after he pretended to be a girl on social media to obtain nude photographs of the teen in 2016, and threatened to share the pictures with the boy’s friends unless he sent more pictures, prosecutors said.

Rizo communicated with at least 130 other boys to obtain nude photos and, after most of them sent him pictures, he threatened to share them with the boys’ friends, the U.S. attorney said.

Rizo will be required to register as a sex offender after his release from prison, Peace said.

The 33-year-old pretended to be a teenage girl on Instagram using the name “Alyssa,” and communicated with the teen between Nov. 30, 2016 to Dec. 1, 2016, prosecutors said.

The 14-year-old boy complied with “Alyssa’s” request to see nude pictures and videos of him, and then Rizo threatened to share that explicit content with the teen’s friends unless he provided more pictures, the U.S. attorney said.

Rizo sent the pictures to the teen’s friends, Peace said.
