Queens Man Who Fatally Attacked 92-Year-Old Woman Pleads Guilty: DA
Reeaz Khan admitted to throwing Maria Fuertes to the ground in Richmond Hill and sexually assaulting her in 2020, prosecutors said.
QUEENS — A 24-year-old man from Richmond Hill pleaded guilty to murder and attempted rape after the killing of a 92-year-old woman in 2020, prosecutors said.
Reeaz Khan admitted to throwing Maria Fuertes to the ground in Richmond Hill and sexually assaulting her on 127th Avenue on Jan. 6, 2020 about midnight, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.
Fuertes was found unconscious and unresponsive, and her clothes had been pulled above her waist, Katz said. Fuertes died at a local hospital after sustaining two fractures to her spine, two rib fractures, bruising to her neck and chest, and other injuries, according to the district attorney.

Video footage caught Khan with his pants undone and running off after the attack, prosecutors said.
Khan is scheduled to come back to court on July 6 to be sentenced to 22 years to life on the murder charge and eight years in prison on the attempted rape charge, Katz said.
