Queens Memorial Event For Helen Marshall To Be Held On Sunday

Former Queens Borough President Helen Marshall died two weeks ago in California.

QUEENS, NY — Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and the Marshall Family are organizing an event this Sunday to celebrate the life and achievements of the former Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, who died in California two weeks ago.

Marshall is remembered for her contributions to public libraries in Queens and her efforts to preserve Queens' cultural heritage. "As the first African American borough president of Queens and only the second woman to be elected to the position, Helen Marshall was a trailblazer who inspired many to pursue public service," reads the announcement for the memorial event.

The memorial will be held on Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. in Queens Borough Hall, located at 120-55 Queens Blvd., Kew Gardens. The event is open to the public, and those wishing to attend should RSVP at http://www.queensbp.org/rsvp.
