Queens Woman Leaps To Her Death To Escape Arrest: Police

The woman jumped from a window of a third-story apartment while trying to flee police during a vice operation, according to the NYPD.

FLUSHING, QUEENS -- A woman jumped to her death from a third-floor window of a Queens building while attempting to escape arrest during an NYPD vice operation, police told Patch.

The Queens North Vice Enforcement Division - which investigates human trafficking, prostitution and internet crimes against children - was conducting an operation on a third-floor apartment on 40th Road near Main Street at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

Officers were attempting to get into the apartment to arrest the 38-year-old woman when backup cops stationed outside saw her fall from the third floor of the building and land on the sidewalk, an NYPD spokeswoman said. She suffered severe injuries to her head and body, police said.
