Queens Woman Stabbed In Possible Murder-Suicide: NYPD

Stacy Locknath was killed on New Year's Day, marking the city's first 2018 murder. Her husband was found hanging from a tree the same day.

RICHMOND HILL, QUEENS -- Police are investigating the stabbing of a Queens woman just hours into the New Year as a murder-suicide after her husband was found hanging from a tree at a nearby park that day.

Stacy Loknath, 26, became the city's first murder victim of 2018 when she was found stabbed to death inside her Richmond Hill home on New Year's Day, police told Patch. Authorities suspect her husband, Vishwanand Loknath, killed her before hanging himself in Forest Park, roughly 2 miles from the murder scene.

Stacy Locknath was found dead with a knife near her body at around 1 p.m. inside the couple's shared home on 103rd Avenue near 113th Street, where she'd been stabbed repeatedly in the back, the New York Daily News first reported. Locknath, a mother of two young children, was pronounced dead on scene, cops said.
