Here are the top three stories in Queens today:
- The last of its kind could be yours, for a price. The Redbird model subway car that sat outside Queens Borough Hall since 2005 is now available for purchase. According to the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services, the opening bid is $6,500. As of Friday afternoon, no bids have been placed on the item despite the auction being open since Wednesday. (New York Post )
- This road restoration was a long time coming. A stretch of Shore Road along the coast in the Douglaston neighborhood has received some much-needed restabilization in a $4.9 million project. The road work was completed on Thursday. According to neighbors, damage to the road had been visible since the 1990s. (Patch)
- A man and woman are in custody after painting graffiti on subway cars. According to police, the pair were arrested on Wednesday at 2:00 a.m. Officers were responding to a 9-1-1 call about graffiti on subway trains in Forest Hills. The trains that were vandalized were not in use and were being stored in a tunnel. (FOX 5 New York)
