Here are the top three stories today in Queens:

  1. On Tuesday morning, multiple boroughs experienced a robbery spree that ended in arrests. According to police, six separate robberies were committed overnight in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan beginning with a robbery at gunpoint in Corona at around 1:00 a.m.; the victims were robbed of their cellphones and jewelry on the sidewalk. In total, three robberies occurred in Queens, two occurred in Manhattan, and one occurred in Brooklyn — each holdup resulted in the theft of cash or property. (WABC-TV)
  2. Eastern Queens residents are invited to participate in the development plans for the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center campus. Borough President Donovan Richards recently made the announcement, calling for residents to attend in-person and virtual workshops beginning tomorrow, Feb. 2, to provide input for the redevelopment plans. Residents in Bellerose, Bellerose Manor, Floral Park, Glen Oaks, Hollis Hills, Oakland Gardens, Queens Village, and nearby neighborhoods are encouraged to attend. (Patch)
  3. On Sunday, two lives were taken following a crash on the Belt Parkway in Springfield Gardens. At around 10:45 p.m., the driver lost control and slammed into a divider, causing 16-year-old passenger Ronish Kush to be ejected from the car and die. 18-year-old Sukhmani Singh, another passenger, was taken to Jamaica Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A third victim — the 19-year-old driver — was hospitalized in stable condition. (ABC 7)
