Teen Identified As Suspect Who Fatally Shot Boy In The Head: Police

QUEENS, NY — The NYPD has identified the alleged shooter accused of killing a 13-year-old boy in Queens earlier this week.

Sixteen-year-old Jason Sykes has been identified as the suspect, according to police.

Sanjay Samuel's family announced on Wednesday that the 13-year-old had died. He had been on life support for the last two days.

The incident happened in the parking lot of a Dunkin' Donuts at 208-15 Linden Blvd. in Cambria Heights around 8:20 a.m. on Monday.

Officers found the boy lying in the street when they arrived at the scene. What led up to the shooting is not known at this time.

Police have said the shooting may have been gang-related. A motive has not been determined yet.

Sykes was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white sneakers and a backpack with the "JAWS" logo, police said.
