Terminal 2 At JFK Airport To Permanently Close

QUEENS — Flights coming into the John F. Kennedy’s Terminal 2 will halt next week as part of the state’s airport upgrade, according to the airport.

Delta’s flight departures in the terminal are already closed, and arrivals will continue normal operations until Sunday, Jan. 15.

The Terminal 2 closure is part of New York’s plan to build a New Terminal One. The new terminal will be built on the sites of the current Terminal 1, the 60-year-old Terminal 2 and the now-demolished Terminal 3.

Delta Air Lines will continue to operate on Terminal 4.

The current Terminal 1 will be torn down after the first phase of the New Terminal One is completed in 2026, followed by a second phase.

The new terminal will double the number of gates for aircraft, with 22 of the 23 new gates designed for larger aircraft.
