- On Monday morning, at least eight people were mowed down by a U-Haul driver in a violent rampage. Weng Sor, 62, — who is now in police custody — traveled through multiple Brooklyn neighborhoods including Bay Ridge and Sunset Park, driving into bike lanes and onto sidewalks, according to police officials. "We have no idea of motives at this time but this wasn't an accident," said Councilman Justin Brannan, who represents Red Hook, in a tweet. Two of the eight victims are in critical condition; two others are in serious condition. (NBC New York)
- A conveyor belt sushi chain is opening its first location in Queens. According to Commerical Observer, Kura Sushi will be opening up at Flushing’s Tangram shopping center, located at 37-12 Prince Street at 37th Avenue. This will mark the first location for the international chain —which has over 600 locations — in the five boroughs. (Eater NY)
- A Connecticut woman has been charged for attempting to bring a loaded .222 caliber handgun through the security checkpoint at JFK Airport on Friday. The woman, from Greenwich, CT, was not ticketed to fly; she had a "gate pass" to accompany her child to their gate, according to TSA officials. The woman was arrested and is now facing weapons charges, along with a potential financial penalty of up to $15,000 for bringing a gun to a TSA security checkpoint. (FOX61 Hartford)
