QUEENS – UFC fighter Israel Adesanya was arrested at JFK Airport Wednesday for carrying brass knuckles on his way home to New Zealand, according to several media outlets.

“When flagged at the airport, Israel quickly disposed of the item, and cooperated with authorities,” a statement by Simpson reads.

Adesanya was taken into custody around 2 p.m. after attempting to walk through security, the Port Authority police told New York Post. Transportation Security Administration staff found the brass knuckles, which are illegal to carry in New York.
The former UFC champion fought at Madison Square Garden Saturday where he was defeated by Alex Pereira and lost his UFC middleweight title, according to ESPN.
