Uncle, Nephew Arrested In Queens Robbery Spree, Authorities Say
Scott and Elgin Brack face federal charges stemming from four robberies they allegedly committed in just a few hours.

QUEENS, NY — A Brooklyn man and his uncle were arrested Monday evening in connection with a three-hour robbery spree in Queens, authorities said Tuesday. Elgin Brack, 22, and his uncle, 50-year-old Scott Brack of The Bronx, face charges in Brooklyn federal court for the alleged holdups of four convenience stores early Monday morning, officials said.
Elgin Brack is accused of shooting a Duane Reade employee during one of the stickups, while his uncle allegedly served as the getaway driver, a spokesman for the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney's Office said.
“As alleged, the defendants struck four all-night commercial businesses in Queens
in a span of less than three hours, including a Duane Reade store in Woodside where an
employee was callously shot in the head simply for resisting the robbery,” U.S. Attorney Richard P. Donoghue said in a statement.

After shooting the worker — who police said was left in critical condition — Elgin Brack allegedly demanded money from employees at gunpoint at a 7-Eleven store in Long Island City and two Rite Aid stores in Astoria and Woodside, federal prosecutors said.
The younger Brack away from the latter three robberies with more than $1,300, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea called the two men "violent individuals" with arrests both in New York and other states. Cops worked with federal authorities to get the men in custody, Shea said.
"Obviously any time we have a gun or a shooting involved that raises the stakes for us," Shea said.
The Bracks both appeared in federal court Tuesday afternoon and were ordered detained, the U.S. attorney's office said.
