Veterans Day: Queens Hosts Ceremony At Borough Hall, Kew Gardens
The ceremony will be held on Tuesday. Nov. 15, at 11:30 a.m. at the Helen Marshall Cultural Center at Queens Borough Hall.

QUEENS – Queens residents who wish to honor those who served in the military on Veterans Day can head to Queens Borough Hall next week for a ceremony hosted by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr.
The ceremony will be held on Tuesday. Nov. 15, at 11:30 a.m. at the Helen Marshall Cultural Center at Queens Borough Hall, honoring the 150,000 veterans who live in New York City.
“Queens is a borough of possibility, diversity and opportunity because, first and foremost, Queens is a borough of veterans — heroes who, for centuries, have given so much of themselves to preserve freedom here and around the world,” Richards said in a statement.

The keynote address will be delivered by Judge Marcia Hirsch of the 11th Judicial District, which includes the Queens Misdemeanor Veterans Treatment Court.
This court connects Queens veterans arrested for nonviolent drug offenses with substance abuse treatment as an alternative to incarceration.

A trio of Queens veterans will also be honored for their service as active duty military members and as advocates for veterans in their communities.
The ceremony will also include the presentation of colors by the Francis Lewis High School Junior ROTC Color Guard.
The event is co-sponsored by the Queens County Women’s Bar Association.
