Woman, 86, Dies In Queens House Fire

QUEENS, NY — An elderly woman died in a late-night Queens house fire that left three others injured, authorities said.

Rosemary Monoco, 86, was pronounced deceased by medics after firefighters battled a late Tuesday blaze inside a Rego Park home, police said.

The fire — which consumed 85-48 66th Ave., near Woodhaven Boulevard — also injured a 54-year-old man who was rushed to a local hospital in stable condition, NYPD officials said.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze, as well, FDNY officials said.

Smoke eaters received a call about the blaze about 10:50 p.m. and rushed to the home, where they found fire and smoke on two floors, officials said.

More than 100 FDNY fire and EMS personnel responded to the fire, which took about an hour to extinguish, authorities said.

Fire marshals are investigating the blaze's cause, officials said.
