Woman Charged With Killing Building Super, Body Found Under Bed

A tenant allegedly killed Jose Portillo​ over an ongoing rental dispute with the building's landlord and stuffed his body in garbage bags.

QUEENS, NY — A Queens woman has been arrested and charged for allegedly killing her building’s superintendent and stuffing his dead body in garbage bags underneath a bed.

Sandra Cotto Navarro, 48, has been charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a weapon, police announced.

According to multiple media reports, Navarro killed Jose Portillo, 55, over an ongoing rental dispute with the building's landlord.

Police discovered the body of Portillo in an apartment at 137-17 70th Avenue in Kew Gardens Hills around 5 p.m. on Tuesday after being called to perform a welfare check.

The victim was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, Patch previously reported.
