2 Buses Headed To William Floyd Middle School Struck By 'Rock, BB, Or Pellet': District

Police were called and are investigating, police say.

MORICHES, NY — Two buses headed to the William Floyd Middle School in Moriches were struck by a small object, the district said.

According to a message on social media by the William Floyd School District, on Friday morning, the buses, traveling on Moriches-Middle Island Road en route to William Floyd Middle School, "were struck on the driver’s side windshield by a small object, potentially a rock, BB or pellet."

Both windshields have small, circular chips from the impact, district officials said.

The police were called and responded at arrival time, and are continuing their investigation, police said.

"There were no injuries to students or the drivers, and all students arrived safely to school," district officials said.

When the police provide an update to the investigation, the information will be passed along to the community, the district said.
